Age-Friendly Initative

Licking County Aging Partners (LCAP) is helping to bring positive change to what aging can look like in Licking County. In May 2023, supported by a letter from the Licking County Commissioners, Licking County joined 25 other cities and counties in Ohio to become Age-Friendly. Licking County has pledged its support towards becoming a Livable Community, joining the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. Membership in the AARP Network means that a community’s elected leadership has committed to actively working with residents and local advocates to make their town, city, county, or state an age-friendly place to live.

Becoming a member of this network establishes Licking County’s commitment to becoming age-friendly. This commitment includes an assessment process and a cycle of continuous improvement. People of all ages benefit from adopting policies and programs that make neighborhoods walkable, feature transportation options, enable access to critical services, provide opportunities to participate in community activities, and support affordable and adaptable housing. Well-designed, age-friendly communities foster economic growth and make for happier, healthier residents of all ages.

It is our passion to see older adults grow, age, and live their lives to the fullest. If you are interested in helping with this Age-Friendly Initiative, please email Kim Hosler or call (740) 345-0821.
