History of The Licking County Aging Partners (LCAP)SDC11880

In 1972, Licking County Aging Partners was officially incorporated with the Secretary of State’s office. We started in the basement of the Plymouth United Church of Christ as a way to bring activities and volunteer opportunities together for senior citizens in Licking County.

Some might remember the agency located in the old Doneff’s Bakery, the old Children’s Home Gymnasium and Zerger Hall Senior Center in 1978. In the summer of 2012, a new home for the agency was born in the former Miller’s restaurant building located at 1058 E. Main St. in Newark. With the opening of the new building, the agency also added adult daycare to its services.

Today, Licking County Aging Partners is the largest senior center in the county. Located on the east end of Newark the agency helps meet seniors’ essential need for meals, health and home care and social connections right in their own neighborhood.

Through its collaborative partnerships and integrated delivery of services, LCAP cares for one of the most diverse and vulnerable populations in the county. Preparing and delivering almost 1,000 meals, 5 days per week throughout Licking County through our Meals on Wheels Program. Many are isolated with no nest egg or family to buffer the challenges of aging.

At Licking County Aging Partners, we strive at responding to each individual as a whole person with unique needs. Whether it’s in-home support, medical transports or simply a place to belong, LCAP helps each senior find a way to stay healthier and live with dignity while growing older.

The Licking County Aging Partners is the first senior center in the State of Ohio to receive certification from the Ohio Association of Senior Centers.
